Join us for three days of skating on our very first Big Avocado Roll! We have exciting events planned for the weekend, including a raffle for FR and Seba products!

Meet new friends, discover Los Angeles, and SKATE!

 

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5th

LA Friday Night Skate
9:00 pm

Meet at: The Cannon (an actual cannon) in front of the Santa Monica Pier. 

Parking: Park on Main Street in Santa Monica, the Civic Center, or take the Expo line. Skate starts near the train station, at the cannon.
Duration: 10-15 miles
Difficulty: Intermediate. Some hills. Street and trail skating
Pace: Comfortable 7-9mph average

A 10-15 mile skate through the Westside of Los Angeles. Starting in Santa Monica at 9:00pm October 5th, 2018. The trail is determined each week by the leaders. This skate has been happening weekly for over 20 years!

This is a night skate, so be sure to bring proper clothing and lights. Skating involves small to large hills and a drink stop at a convenience mart. Join us and meet some of the local skaters!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6th

SkateIA.
10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Meet at:  Mar Vista Hockey Rink

Parking: Parking is available adjacent to the rink or on Palms Boulevard
Duration: N/A
Difficulty: Beginner and up
Pace: N/A

Prepare for a nice sunny day (99% chance) at the outdoor hockey rink in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. Practice slalom on a perfect surface. The rink will be split in half and shared with a simultaneous event: Skate Techniques with Trish.

Join Trish from Skate IA for a free skating lesson. Learn the basic techniques of skating. Crossovers, forward and backward skating, and more. Quad skaters are especially welcome

Meet at:  Mar Vista Hockey Rink

Redeem the raffle tickets purchased at the Friday Night Skate and Saturday Rink Skates for a chance to win equipment from our sponsor FR Skates! We will be hosting the raffle in-person at 12:50 on Saturday. If your ticket is picked, choose form an assortment of generously donated raffle prizes.


rollerBANGER Lunch Ride
2:00 pm

Meet at: Gather in front of the Lighthouse Fountain and Grill Restaurant

Parking: Parking is available in front of the starting point
Duration: ~12 miles
Difficulty: Beginner and up
Pace: ~7mph

Join us for casual afternoon skate with rollerBANGER while we skate around Los Angeles’s Marina del Rey and Venice neighborhoods. This skate will involve street skating in a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood. We will stop for food at Cabo Cantina and see the local beach culture.


DTLA Night Skate
7:00 pm

Meet at: Pershing Square at the corner of 6th Street and Olive 

Parking: Parking is available near Pershing Square. There is also a Metro stop at Pershing Square.
Duration: ~12 miles
Difficulty: Intermediate. This skate will involve skating the streets of Downtown Los Angeles and includes hills.
Pace: 7-9 mph

Meet Local Los Angeles skaters in our DTLA Night Skate. Experience the city at night and see views of Downtown Los Angeles. Bring proper safety and lighting gear. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7th

COAST Open Streets
10:00 am

Meet at: We will gather as a group in front of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium

Parking: Available at the Civic Auditorium and adjacent streets. The event is located near the light rail Metro Expo line.
Duration: 10-12 miles
Difficulty: Beginner
Pace: TBD

Come celebrate art, sustainability, and … skating on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Te city of Santa Monica is hosting a  free event open-streets event. The public will experience two miles of streets closed to car traffic and filled with interactive art exhibits, live performances, local food and business purveyors, and connections with families, friends, and neighbors.
